There are several different diving certification bodies:

French training

These certifications or qualifications are also recognized worldwide.

• The FFESSM French School is a French sports federation specialized in the field of recreational and competitive underwater activities such as scuba diving, freediving, white water swimming, swimming with fins and underground diving. The different levels of qualification are described as follows:
  • AD = Autonomous Diver
  • SD = Supervised Diver.
    The number after the designation of the diver is the maximum depth that can be reached with the qualification. Ex. AD20 = autonomous diver at 20m.

• ANMP, the national association of diving instructors is a French professional organization recognized by the Ministry of Sports. It is authorized to issue divers’ certificates in accordance with the safety rules applicable in France.

SSI

Scuba Schools International (SSI) is a growing international organization. It has been in existence for over 40 years, founded in 1970, and is now present in over 110 countries. SSI has developed educational materials in over 25 languages. Your SSI diving diploma will be recognized all over the world. Some dive centers are affiliated with PADI and SSI. SSI’s training method is to make learning to dive more affordable, more alive, in the spirit of recreational diving which should be above all a pleasure.
